Over the past two decades, Gus Sleiman’s journey has been shaped by a simple but powerful belief: communities thrive when people work together. What began with owning and operating small hospitality businesses grew into a broader path that includes property management, and development. Gus is guided by the conviction that real progress happens at the intersection of community collaboration and trusting in each other, in order to create a positive change and add value to the lives of others. Throughout his career, he has dedicated himself to building bridges among community stakeholders, fostering partnerships that lead to long-term, sustainable impact, both locally and beyond.
Professionally, Gus has a proven track record of developing successful ventures, known for strong team cultures and high employee retention. His strengths lie in maximizing organizational effectiveness, leading diverse teams, and creating environments where people feel invested, supported, and motivated to succeed.
At the heart of Gus’s work is his passion for community engagement. He actively applies his entrepreneurial experience and leadership skills to support nonprofit organizations working in food insecurity, social justice, youth engagement, and community development, as well as international humanitarian initiatives. His focus has always been on ensuring that resources, attention, and opportunity reach those who need them most.
Gus currently serves as a member of the New Brunswick Tomorrow Board of Trustees and was elected Chair of The Salvation Army in New Brunswick, New Jersey for a period of 5 years. In these roles, he worked to expand access to opportunity, support families, address food insecurity, and uplift emerging entrepreneurs, particularly new and aspiring restaurateurs, while ensuring that the most vulnerable members of the community are seen.
Gus leads the Lebanese Information Center (LIC) – United Nations Relations Office, collaborating with UN agencies and diplomatic missions on humanitarian concerns, and policy priorities. He also serves on the National Board of Caritas USA – Lebanon, supporting humanitarian relief, social services, and sustainable development efforts for the vulnerable population.
Gus has received numerous awards recognizing his leadership, humanitarian service, and commitment to community development. Whether working at the neighborhood level or beyond, his guiding principle remains constant: lasting change is built through relationships, compassion, and shared responsibility. Gus holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Psychology from The City University of New York.
